The Magnolia power coupleteamed up with James Hardie, a home manufacturing company, to produce the perfect siding line for any homeowner’s next exterior makeover.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Joanna explains the reason why she loves partnering with James Hardie. “We drive by the homes we did 20 years ago down by Baylor University, and those were all Hardie-sided homes. This is truly a product that we’ve believed in for 20 years,” she says.
She adds that working with James Hardie was “a match made in heaven,” and that she and Chip felt “honored” to be collaborating with the company.
Chip tells PEOPLE, “We’ve always been really proud of the reality that we can put James Hardie siding on a project and know that 20 years later, we still feel a lot of pride in it instead of feeling like we have to shade our eyes because we’re embarrassed of how it looks years later.”
In a recent advertorial on JLC’s website, the author exclaims the virtues of solid PVC siding and trim, including “not having to add a rainscreen.” Yet the lack of a rainscreen (or enough continuous exterior insulation) with any polymer-based siding (including vinyl, “solid” PVC, and similar materials that do not vapor permeable) in residences can potentially cause serious and widespread moisture damage to wall sheathing and framing.
It has long been known that water vapor produced indoors can migrate by air leakage or vapor diffusion into walls and condense on the wood sheathing or the exterior portions of framing in cold climates. That commonly and naturally happens during wintry weather. During winter, the moisture content in sheathing rises and peaks, eventually falling again with warmer spring and summer weather. The key is that wood or similar siding or fiber-cement siding is vapor permeable (what some call “breathable”) and allows moisture in the sheathing to slowly but surely dry to the outside air. If it dries enough, the sheathing moisture content drops below the fiber saturation level of about 26% to 30%. Below this level, decay cannot occur during warm spring and summer weather.
People call us all the time and ask how they can upgrade their old windows. Usually, their window jambs are rotting, the weatherstripping is falling off, the glass is cloudy, or they have various other issues. For these reasons, we believe Infinity from Marvin is the best replacement windows for Colorado. Colorado’s climate and UV equate to one of the most dramatic weather climates in the country – leading to the rapid deterioration of ordinary windows. Fiberglass is not your average window material. Thinking of Replacing Your Windows?
Replacing your windows can be a great way to improve the look and feel of your home. Not only will your home look better, but you’ll also enjoy enhanced energy efficiency. If you’re thinking of replacing your windows, finish reading this article about fiberglass replacement windows. With these tips, you’ll be able to find the perfect windows for your home and get them installed quickly and easily! There are plenty of window materials, from vinyl to aluminum to wood. Perhaps the two most popular styles found on modern homes in the U.S. are vinyl andfiberglass. If you’re considering upgrading your windows soon, it’s fair to question which material will best fit your home. Some factors to consider are strength, durability, cost and energy efficiency.
You may not think much about windowappearance– the whole point is to look through them, after all – but fiberglass and vinyl windows have some aesthetic differentiators worth noting. Fiberglass windows can be painted, customized upon purchase and closely mimic wood windows’ appearance. But if you want to paint vinyl windows, it’s not advised since they don’t hold paint well. They’re less stable than fiberglass and are more likely to warp.
Fiberglass windows are much more stable than vinyl ones, so they don’t need to be as wide. This means fiberglass frames have a smaller visible daylight opening- perfect for your home! If more natural light and more versatile appearance options are important to you, consider fiberglass over vinyl.
Infinity from Marvin offers fiberglass windows with considerable benefits over wood or vinyl. The superior durability and tasteful aesthetics make them an excellent choice for many homeowners who are looking to replace their old, worn out windows!
